Comedy and Beer – perfect!

One of the country’s most popular lagers is now lending its hand to bringing comedy to our screens. That is, our computer screens.

Foster’s, the second best-selling standard lager in the UK, has branched out and funded the comebacks of three British comedy classics over the past six months. Following the online success of Vic and Bob’s Afternoon Delights and Alan Partridge’s Mid Morning Matters, The Fast Show joined them in making an online comeback on the Foster’s Funny website last month after an absence spanning a decade.

The show which became famous for catchphrases such as ”Scorchio!” and “Suit you, sir!” is back for a new online-only series and is already proving to be a big hit. I think it is safe to say The Fast Show won’t be the last comedy classic to appear from the wilderness.

Humour plays an important role in Foster’s marketing campaign. Brad and Dan have become regulars during television ad breaks. The stereotypical Aussies kick back in their beach hut and give advice to British mates in a bit of a situation.

More recently, the pair has featured in the launch ad for Foster’s Gold Beer alongside singer and actress Holly Valance. Foster’s Gold is a clean, crisp beer packaged in a way which appeals to both men and women. More and more women in bars and pubs up and down the country can be spotted with a bottle of Foster’s in their hand.

Beer and comedy play important roles in British society. We love to laugh and we love to drink. Foster’s has long delivered good quality lager, now the Australian beer company is providing the laughs as well.

Crack open an ice-cold bottle of Foster’s Gold and settle down to watch a new episode of The Fast Show. You won’t be left disappointed!

Find a beer to suit your tastes!

Beer remains one of the most popular alcoholic drinks around and it’s not difficult to see why. With so much choice and variety on offer these days, we’re spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing a decent lager.

One of the most popular types of beer among younger drinkers tends to be bottled premium lagers. These lagers are more convenient for carrying around busy clubs and bars than pints and look more stylish and modern too. But do they taste any good? Well, after extensive sampling, I can confirm that they do! Get a good bottled lager and you’ll find the taste is cool, crisp, clean and refreshing; perfect for quenching the thirst at any time of day. I would personally recommend Foster’s Gold, which ticks all of the aforementioned boxes.

If you’ve got more of a sweet tooth, then you can’t go far wrong with one of the many delicious fruit beers available in any decent pub or bar these days. Banana, strawberry, raspberry, peach… the list goes on when it comes to fruit beers. It’s just a shame they can’t count towards your ‘five a day’!

For fans of real ales, most traditional pubs offer hand-pulled guest bitters and ales that change regularly, so you can sample as many different beers as there are days of the week if you visit enough pubs. In fact, you could probably find a different beer for every day of the year if you wanted!

As far as I’m concerned, there’s no better way to enjoy beer than by making an effort to try something new each time you visit a pub or bar. I also like to discover new pubs and bars and get to see a lot of the country by taking real ale trails all over the place; sampling something different wherever I go.
